He's three now. This boy who used to be such a tiny helpless baby, now a big boy who runs and climbs and jumps and talks. I told him a shortened version of his birth story this morning ("mommy and daddy finished eating breakfast then the bag of waters you lived in when you were inside mommy's tummy broke and we went to the hospital. Mommy did a lot of hard work and then you came out of mommy's tummy and were born!") He thought the story was funny. When I asked if he remembered anything about when he was being born, he said yes he remembered mommy's water. Ah well, it was worh a try, asking him if he remembered anything.

On Saturday we had a party for Gavin. Jason's dad and stepmom and our cousin Sean came up for the weekend and were here for the party. We had a lot of fun with them here. Really enjoyed having them as always. The party was a lot of fun too. It was quite the Thomassy birthday. Thomas cake, and heap of Thomas-themed gifts, including a two-wheeled bike.

The bike was a recent inspiration since he's been riding our neighbor's and just loves it. Monday he was begging me to go outside and ride his bike from the moment he woke up. We spent a good deal of the day outside, too, although he wasn't riding his bike all that time. I am thinking I may actually get some walks in this summer, so long as his current enthusiasm for the bike does not wane.

Today Gavin and I baked another cake. Perhaps a bit of overkill, so many cakes, but I wanted to do something special for his birthday. Besides, there is no such thing as too much cake.
